We returned to Cumberland, RI to photograph a growing family we’ve had the joy of working with time and time again. Their in-home newborn session captured both timeless posed portraits and natural family moments as they welcomed their second baby.
There are some families who become more than just clients, and this Cumberland, Rhode Island family is one of them.
We’ve had the pleasure of photographing their family time and time again, so when they welcomed their second baby, we were incredibly excited to be invited back to document this next chapter for them.
For this newborn session, we photographed their family in the comfort of their own home, combining both posed newborn portraits and relaxed lifestyle images. The result was a collection of photographs that captured not only their beautiful new baby, but also what this season of life actually felt like for their growing family.
A New Baby and a Growing Family
One of our favorite parts of being family photographers is getting to watch families grow.
We’ve photographed this family through different seasons, and returning to their home to meet their newest addition made this session especially meaningful. There is something wonderful about photographing a family again and seeing how much has changed since the last time we were together.
Welcoming a second baby brings an entirely new dynamic to a family. There is the excitement of meeting a new little person, but there is also the transition of becoming a family of four.
Those are the moments we wanted to preserve.

We began with posed newborn portraits, creating a collection of timeless images focused on their newest little one.
Photographing newborns in their own home allows us to create beautiful portraits without requiring a family to pack up everything they need and travel to a studio. We bring what we need for the session and work within the comfort and familiarity of their space.

After the posed portion of the session, we shifted toward a more relaxed lifestyle approach.
This is one of our favorite parts of in-home newborn photography because the photographs become less about posing and more about connection.
We photographed the family together in their home, allowing their interactions to unfold naturally. There were cuddles, little moments between parents and their children, and all of those small details that make this particular season of family life theirs.

Photographing a Family of Four
One of the most meaningful parts of welcoming a second baby is watching the relationship between siblings begin to take shape.
